2009 Annual Conference
The Idaho Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators Annual Training Conference was held November 3rd 4th & 5th, 2009 at the Canyon Crest Dining & Event Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The Award of Excellence for 2009 was presented to Deputy Idaho Attorney General Rondee Blessing. Idaho State Fire Marshal, Mark Larson, nominated Deputy Attorney General Blessing for the award. The nomination resulted from her outstanding performance in an arson/fraud case.

The first two days of instruction were provided by Carl DeLeo, Fire Insight and Consulting. The presentation Mr DeLeo gave on "Interviews & Interrogations" was an excellent experience enjoyed by all who attended.
Mr. Dennis L. Rogers provided 4 hours of continuing education instruction on Thursday morning. The topic of Mr. Rogers instruction was Fire/Arson Investigation - Task Force Concepts. The instruction provided by Mr. Rogers was very informative and educational. Numerous positive comments were received at the conclusion of the conference concerning both instructors.

The conference came to a close Thursday afternoon with a presentation and discsussion covering multiple topics. Guest speakers were Aaron Lucoff – Prosecuting Attorney Canyon County & US Attorney’s Office and ATF Special Agent Bobby Gant, ATF-CFI.
Topics discussed included: Elements of Arson Investigation, Case Law & Expert Witness Testimony, 4th, 5th, & 6th Amendment Issues, Case Management, Prosecutorial Involvement. Subpoenas & Court Orders, Report Writing.
The Idaho Chapter of the IAAI expresses there Thanks to all the speakers that made the annual conference a great leaning experience and huge success.
